As we kick off JUNK JANUARY,
I thought it would be great to make a list of what we should do this month on Tasteful Tillys.
I have great ideas for the whole month, and I can't wait to share them.
For my first junk post I decided to share my kitchen table!
I feel the kitchen table is a very important part of a home. It's where family gathers to eat and talk about the day; it's where kids sit to do homework. One of my favorite things is playing games. You need a good table for a great game with all the family.
I fell in love with this table right when I saw it!
Yeah a little gross right?
Once I got past the dirt on it and really checked it out, I couldn't pass it up! I found this gem at a fantastic thrift store called "This n' That". Go ahead guess how much I paid for it.... $35.00. Can you believe that?? Steal of a deal like I said. This table is made out of nice heavy wood too.
Thought I'd add another picture so you could see the dirt a little bit more.
All I got was some white paint and sponge brushes from, of course, Hobby Lobby.
I chose to mix the white paint with a little bit of water so it would have a white wash look.
I LOVE this table.
Well worth it.
The things you can find at a thrift store are shocking. And who doesn't like a screaming good deal?? That is why we wanted this months theme to be "Junk January." It is so important to re-use things you already have, especially when you are on a budget. It is so easy to make over some great pieces you already have.
Materials used :
White Paint - $1.09 Hobby Lobby
Sponge Brush - $5.99 Hobby Lobby
Sand Paper - $3.27 Hobby Lobby
Sealant Spray - $7.49 (on sale) Hobby Lobby
Of course you can use the 40% off on one these items.
Some simple tips.
-Clean the table/furniture first
-Sand it down, no need to go crazy though
-less than perfect is best
-go thrift store hopping with friends, more eyes to catch more deals
Get out there!!

Looks great! I lovvvvve thrift shopping!
